Breaking the Chains of Injustice

Breaking the Chains of Injustice

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?" Isaiah 58:6

We are a group of like minded Christ followers that are interested in becoming like Jesus through fighting social injustices and systemic racism through prayer as well as our actions.

We seek to do this through growing individually as anti-racists and collectively partnering with Together Chicago (togetherchicago.com). With Together Chicago, we want to be a catalyst for lasting change by reducing gun violence and increasing thriving communities in nearby Chicago communities.
Specifically, twice a month, we will participate in "Night Church" alongside other churches where we will engage in "Positive Loitering" in troubled spots to change the dynamics of that place, in coordination with the Police Department.

Most likely, it will be on a Thursday evening in Green Briar Park, which is near Peterson and California in Chicago. "Positive Loitering" simply means serving the community through food and worshiping together in the park which, in and of itself, breaks down spiritual strongholds.

In addition, we plan to be involved in the summer BBQ's at Willye B. White Park in Rogers Park over the major holiday weekends (Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day).

When: Select Thursdays, 6:30 pm to 8 pm
