What is Alpha?
Alpha is a course that explores the basics of the Christian faith. Each session looks at a different question that people often have about faith and is designed to start a conversation. It’s an open, informal, and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together.

What does Alpha look like?
Alpha at the Evanston Vineyard is part of a larger movement of Alpha all over the world. Everyone’s welcome. Alpha meets in restaurants, homes, churches, prisons, parks, universities—you name it. Alphas have three key things in common: food, a talk, and good conversation.

Whether it’s a group of friends gathered around a kitchen table, or a quick catch-up over coffee and dessert, food has a way of bringing people together. It’s the same with Alpha. Sessions start with dinner because it’s a great way to build community and get to know each other.

The talks are designed to engage guests and inspire conversation. They explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions such as “How Does God Guide Us?”, “What Does the Holy Spirit Do?”, and “Does God Heal Today?”

Probably the most important part of Alpha is the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group. There’s no pressure to say anything and there’s nothing you can’t say (seriously). It’s an opportunity to hear from others and share your own views in an honest, friendly and open environment.
