We believe that a church is meant to be a community
of people who are seeking to express and grow in their
faith. As such, relationships are foundational to our
church and a relational approach is key to how we work
together. We are seeking to grow in our relationship
to Jesus, and we have found that this happens better
when we do it together. Being around others who struggle
with the same questions and some who are a little but
further on in following Jesus helps us get closer to
Him. And just about everything in life goes better when
we’re part of a healthy community. Celebrations
and joyful times are even better when they are shared
with others. Sorrows and troubles are lighter when they
are shared with folks who will stand with us, pray for
us, and serve us practically in those times. And times
of crisis and uncertainty are less fearful when we are
part of a community of people who are committed to one
another.
Our Sunday worship gatherings are fairly large and
so other ways and places of building relationships are
key to living life in community.
We have several sub-congregations who help foster community
through training, mission and social events. “Dive”
is oriented towards twenty-somethings who are just diving
into adult life. “Renew” is oriented towards
those who are over 30 and perhaps wanting to stay in
a renewed perspective.
In addition we have many small groups which are key
locations for building relationshiops. Some are coed
and meet in homes and are called housegroups. Others
are mom’s groups, women’s groups, men’s
groups, or organized around special support. Our Ruth
and Naomi group is a support group for single mothers.
To get the most out of our community, participation
in a small group is best.
